Recording industry successful in first ever stream ripping blocking action in Indonesia

1 July 2026 – IFPI, the organisation that represents the recorded music industry worldwide, alongside ASIRI, which represents music labels in Indonesia, have coordinated the first successful blocking action in Indonesia targeting 13 stream ripping sites.  The sites blocked as part of this action collectively received more than half a billion visits last year from users in Indonesia.

IFPI and ASIRI would like to thank the Directorate General of Intellectual Property and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs for acting promptly on this blocking application and ensuring that these sites were quickly blocked by ISPs.

The parties look forward to continued collaboration to combat the exceptionally high level of piracy in the country, which is undermining the development and growth of licensed online services that pay royalties to right holders.

This blocking action supports IFPI’s and the industry’s efforts to tackle stream ripping globally.  Currently stream ripping sites have been blocked in 17 countries.
