IFPI shuts down Y2mate.com and 11 other major stream ripping sites in landmark action in Vietnam

14 October 2025 – IFPI, the organisation representing the recording industry worldwide, has today announced the successful closure of Y2mate.com, one of the world’s most visited stream ripping sites, together with 11 other stream ripping sites following targeted enforcement action in Vietnam.

Y2mate.com and the other stream ripping sites, which collectively had in the last 12 months alone received more than 620 million visits globally, have been a long-term priority for IFPI.

Y2mate has been subject to website blocking actions in 13 countries and has appeared in numerous editions of the USTR Notorious Markets Report and the EU Counterfeit and Piracy Watchlist. The shutdown of the sites is a result of targeted enforcement action by IFPI against the operator of the sites.

The operator of Y2mate and the other 11 websites agreed to shut down the sites for good and to stop infringing IFPI’s members rights in the future. Most of the domains are now in IFPI’s possession including Y2mate.com, Yt1s.com, Utomp3.com, Tomp3.cc, and Y2mate.gg.

This operation is part of IFPI’s broader global campaign and efforts to protect artists and consumers from those seeking to exploit the music industry.

Victoria Oakley, CEO of IFPI, said:

“This marks a major milestone in our ongoing work to tackle stream ripping, one of the most prevalent forms of online music piracy.

“It is a first of its kind success in Vietnam for the music industry, and we aim to build on this momentum to address other infringing services operated from the region. We will continue to tackle services which infringe our members’ rights, and to help protect the global music community.”
