Carrier A physical format capable of carrying one or more Fixations, such as a CD, DVD or AudioCassette. A specific instance of a Carrier may or may not have Content. Example: both a blank and a recorded CD may be described as a Carrier.
CarrierType A Type of Carrier.
CatalogNumber An Identifier used to number Creations listed in a catalog.
pcs:CatalogNumber A Composite containing details of a CatalogNumber.
Category A type, quality or measurement of another entity. A Category may be expressed in a variety of forms: as A Flag ("True/False"), a Class (eg "DigitalResource"), an adjectival Quality (eg "BlackAndWhite"), a nounal Quality (eg "Audibility") or as a numeric Quantity (eg "4.33MB"). Often the same categorization can be represented in several different ways. Example: the statements "ResourceX is an AudioCreation" (Class), "ResourceX is Audible" (adjectival Quality), "ResourceX has Audibility (noun Quality)" and "ResourceX has AudibilityFlag=True" (Flag) would all mean the same thing.
CategoryComposite A Type of Composite containing details of one or more Categories.
CD A Carrier in a CompactDisc (CD) format.
CDAudioVideo A CD in the Compact Disc Audio/Video format.
CDi A CD in the Compact Disc Interactive format.
CD-ROM A CD in the CD-ROM format.
CDSingle A Single carried on a CD.
CDVideo16cm8p A VideoCD in 16cm8p format.
CDVideo30cm12p A VideoCD in 30cm12p format.
Char A fixed length String.
CharacterCoding A Type of digital encoding applied to characters in a Text.
Characteristic A qualitative or quantitative attribute of an entity.
Choir An Ensemble of Performers using their voice rather than musical instruments. An Orchestra usually also includes Performers not using their voice (e.g. a Conductor).
Claim An Assertion of control of a Right in a Resource.
Class A set of things which have particular attributes in common. Every entity is either a "Class" or an "Individual", and some may be both. For example, "SoundRecording" is the Class of all instances of SoundRecording. A Class may also be a member of another Class. For example, "SoundRecording" is a member of the Class of "CreationType".
pcs:CLine A Composite containing details of a Copyright Notice for a Work.
CLine A © CopyrightNotice for a Work.
Code An Identifier which is one of a Set of Identifiers which is a defined and published list. For example: TerritoryCodes, CurrencyCodes are Codes, while ISRCs are Identifiers.
Comedian An Actor in a comic role or in a comedy.
Comment A textual commentary about an entity.
ComponentElement A part of a Composite.
Composer A Creator of the musical elements of a MusicalWork.
ComposerAuthor A Party that plays the Roles of Composer and/or Writer of a MusicalWork.
Composite A group of two or more entities combined for any purpose. Examples: an XML Message, a group of elements within a Message such as "TitlesComposite". A Composite does not represent anything in its own right but is only a collection or "bag" of entities which normally have some kind of relationship. Composites may contain other Composites to any level of granularity.
Conductor A Party who leads or conducts an Ensemble.
Consumer An individual end User of a Creation. For example: a Party listening to a broadcast, playing a CD, streaming a video.
Content A Creation which is contained within another Creation. Content may be a physical, digital, spatiotemporal or abstract Creation.
ContentDescription A Description of the Content of a Resource.
Context An intersection of Time and Place in which something may happen (an Event) or exist (a State). Example: releasing a Product in France on May 5th 2005 is an Event; a Product being available for sale in France from May 5th 2005 until December 25th 2005 is a State.
ContextComposite A Type of Composite containing details of one or more Contexts.
Contributor A Party making a contribution to the making of a Creation. A Contributor may be an individual person, a group or an organization. A contribution may be of any scale, from being sole creator to playing a minor facilitating role.
ContributorRole A Type of Role played by a Contributor.
CopyrightNotice A RightsNotice about the copyright status of a Work. Typically the Work will be in copyright, but this element can also be used to annotate a Work that is out of copyright: that is, a Public Domain Work.
Count A count of the Number of occurrences of something.
Creating An Event in which a Creation is made.
Creation An entity that is made, directly or indirectly, by one or more human beings.
CreationCategorizationFlag A Type of Flag which indicates some Categorization of a Creation.
CreationDate A Date on which a Creation was made.
CreationId An Identifier of a Creation.
CreationPart An identified component or item of the Content of a Creation. Examples include a chapter of a DVD, a Track on a CD or a fragment of a Medley. If the Creation is a MusicalWork, this is a section which typically is not recognised as an independent work in its own right and does not have its own ISWC.
CreationType A Type of Creation.
Creator A Contributor playing a creative role in the making of a Creation.
CreditDebitFlag A Flag indicating whether an Amount in a Message is payable from the Recipient of the Message to its Sender (=True) or vice versa (=False).
Currency A MeasurementUnit of money.
CurrencyCode A Code which Identifies a Currency. The default for PCS is an ISO 4217 alphabetic CurrencyCode.
iso4217a:CurrencyCode A 3-alpha-character CurrencyCode according to the ISO 4217 Standard.
Customer A buyer of a good or Service.
