New ISRC agency appointments

** PLEASE NOTE IFPI IS CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS PENDING REVIEW OF INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ISO 3901:2001.**

In its role as the global ISRC agency, IFPI Secretariat has recently agreed an official procedure for the appointment of new, national ISRC agencies. The International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) is the global identification system for sound recordings and music videos. Each ISRC is a unique and permanent identifier for a specific recording which can be permanently encoded into digital formats. Codes are allocated and monitored through the Local ISRC Agencies.

Under the new procedure, when IFPI receives an application to form a new national ISRC agency, IFPI canvasses existing agencies for their opinion. Following that, IFPI's provisional decision will be published on the website for a 14-day period for public comment, after which the decision becomes final.
