Icelandic Supreme Court upholds injunction against torrent site

Reykjavik, 12th February 2010

Iceland’s Supreme Court upheld an injunction against the torrent site Isotorrent yesterday. The original injunction was obtained by the Performing Rights Society of Iceland in November 2007 against Isotorrent and its operator Svavar Luthersson. Isotorrent had been used to facilitate the distribution of copyright infringing music and film. The Supreme Court ruled that the defendant should pay ISK 700,000 (US$5,415) to the plaintiff in respect to litigation costs.
