December 13, 2006

Plans to acquire content, expand company's audio-visual business worldwide

To further expand its worldwide audio-visual business, Universal Music Group International (UMGI) has appointed industry pioneer Ray Still as a consultant to the UMGI board. Effective immediately, he will become involved in all aspects of the company's strategy in acquiring and developing audio-visual content, and its successful global marketing.

The appointment was announced today by Lucian Grainge, Chairman/CEO of Universal Music Group International.

As former President of Warner Vision International, Still is recognised for his central role in developing the worldwide music DVD business. He led the company from its inception in 1998 until recently, delivering global DVD hits by Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel, the Rolling Stones, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Madonna, R.E.M., Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, The Who and Simply Red, as well as the historic Live Aid concert.

Ray Still said, "The future of the music DVD marketplace depends on high quality audio-visual content, which will benefit from the arrival of High Definition discs. It also requires an intensely focused international marketing approach. Our goal is to bring Universal Music's DVD market share in line with its outstanding audio market share. High Def assets also prepare the way for growth in digital exploitation as well as all forms of broadcast TV."

Lucian Grainge commented, "Ray is the best in the business, as well as being a winner. We like winners."
