BIEM statement on Allofmp3.com by Ronald Mooij

June 16th, 2006

"Allofmp3.com is a notorious website which is illegally making available music internationally without paying composers and songwriters. As the international organisation representing societies administering the composers', songwriters' and music publishers' reproduction rights I can confirm that ROMS, the body in Russia which allofmp3.com claims has licensed it, does not have any mandate whatsoever to licence allofmp3.com for our members' mechanical rights. Allofmp3.com is not just ripping off record producers and artists - it is ripping off authors and composers as well. Moreover we fear that consumers that choose to use this illegal service take unnecessary security risks. We wholeheartedly support the legal proceedings that are taken against the site within and outside Russia."
