Operation "Sanremo Plus": 368 CD burners and 17 arrests in one week nationwide raids

Italian Fiscal Police (GdF), FPM (federation against music piracy) and SIAE (Italian Authors society) announced the final results of Operation "Sanremo Plus", a one week nationwide intensive wave of police raids during the most known TV music show in Italy.
Between the 27th of February and the 5th of March the operation led to the seizure of 100,839 pirate CDs and music DVDs with recordings of the Sanremo Music Festival and 368 CD burners. 17 individuals were arrested during the raids.
One website offering illicit recordings for sale was shut down and more that 30 cease & desist letters referring to the offering of pre releases were sent out. Italian ISPs removed more than 200 sites with illegal pre releases and bootlegs.
The operation was launched 24 hours before the original recordings have been available in shops and on the major online and mobile retailers.
