  • Broadband penetration is estimated at 4% and internet penetration at 38%.
  • Around 20% of all adults claim to have purchased blank CDs at some point. 14% claim to have done this in the past year - around 400,000 people.
  • Around six in 10 of all adults claim that they know people who pass around CDs that have been copied.

State of the local industry

  • Between 2001 and 2004 music sales fell 25%, from €145 million to €109 million.
  • There are some signs of a slight recovery in 2004, however this is mainly due to an increase in DVD sales.
