ST Music settles over distribution of infringing CDs17 December 2003 IFPI has concluded a settlement with a Singapore company following an investigation into the distribution of CDs containing unauthorised copies of recordings. The CDs contained unreleased Beatles recordings and work by other artists including Radiohead, Elton John, the Rolling Stones, Sheryl Crow and Santana. The discs were ordered by a UK-based company, which deceived ST Music as to the contents. ST Music, which fully cooperated with IFPI's investigation into the products, was unaware of the real content of the recordings when it arranged for the manufacture of the discs. IFPI is actively pursuing the UK company and its principals. ST Music has agreed to pay an undisclosed sum in settlement of the claim and to cooperate fully with IFPI's ongoing investigation. |
