Comment on the European Parliament's Legal Affairs and Internal Market Committee vote on the proposed EU Enforcement Directive27 November 2003 Frances Moore, IFPI Regional Director for Europe, said: "The European Parliament has been consistent in its commitment to fight piracy and we see this again in its efforts to improve the proposed Enforcement Directive to make it an effective tool. "Earlier this year, the Parliament adopted a Declaration against Piracy and Counterfeiting with a large number of signatures. Today's vote in the Legal Committee shows that MEPs are willing to follow that political commitment with action. Members of Parliament have understood that piracy and counterfeiting are a huge drain on the economy of the European Union and are prepared to make a stand." For further information, contact : |
